ACTING TODAY FOR A BETTER TOMORROW

What we do today has a significant impact on the eco-systems we operate in and the future we want to build for our next generation.

Collective action and collaboration are key to unlocking the scale of impact needed, so we’re focused on working with our communities to build the future of events with sustainability as an operating value. And we’re turning what used to be dreams into reality, with Singapore EXPO becoming Asia’s most sustainable MICE venue, powered by renewable energy.

Here are some of our recent and ongoing sustainability efforts.

We welcome like-minded partners to join us on our sustainability journey. If you have feedback or enquiries on our sustainability initiatives, or an idea for collaboration, connect with us at sustainability@constellar.co.

Empowering the Next Generation of MICE Talent

At Constellar, we believe in nurturing the future of the MICE industry by providing meaningful learning experiences for our youths. Through mentorship programs and collaborative projects with institutes of higher learning (IHLs) and industry partners, we create real-world opportunities for them to explore the passion, innovation, and dynamism of the events industry.

For instance, Constellar partnered with Singapore Tourism Board and NTUC LearningHub to co-develop and offer courses in key emerging areas of tourism such as sustainability, service experience excellence and technology.

By equipping youths and new joiners with latest industry insights and hands-on experiences, we inspire and empower the next generation of MICE professionals.

Aligning with Global Sustainability Commitments

At Constellar, we are committed to driving meaningful progress in sustainability by aligning with international and regional agendas. As a member of the Global MICE Sustainability Alliance, alongside the Singapore Tourism Board and key industry partners, we actively support Singapore’s ambition to become Asia Pacific’s leading sustainable MICE destination by 2030 and contribute to the nation’s goal of achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Through our managed venue, Singapore EXPO, and our portfolio of events, we collaborate closely with partners, suppliers, and stakeholders across the value chain to accelerate sustainable transformation. As a signatory of the Net Zero Carbon Events initiative, led by the Joint Meetings Industry Council, we are dedicated to reducing our environmental impact and playing our part in the global MICE ecosystem to address climate change.

Our commitment extends to global sustainability frameworks—Singapore EXPO is a proud participant of the United Nations Global Compact and an active member of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council and LowCarbonSG, reinforcing our role in shaping a more responsible and resilient industry.

Powering Events and Singapore EXPO with Renewable Energy

At Singapore EXPO, we are committed to advancing sustainable energy solutions to power both our events and operations. Home to Singapore’s largest single-site rooftop solar PV system, our venue boasts 16,508 solar panels spanning an area equivalent to eight football fields. This system generates 12GWh of clean energy annually, enough to power 4,000 three-room apartments for a year, enabling events at our venue to be powered by renewable energy wherever possible.

Beyond event spaces, our commitment to sustainability extends to green mobility solutions. Singapore EXPO hosts one of Eastern Singapore’s largest EV charging hubs, with 20 charging stations, all powered by solar energy. To further reduce our carbon footprint, we have also transitioned our onsite support vehicles to electric alternatives, minimizing emissions from transportation.

By harnessing solar energy, Singapore EXPO prevents 5,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually—equivalent to taking 3100 round trips between Singapore and New York—reinforcing our commitment to a cleaner, greener future for the MICE industry.

Supporting Sustainable Farming & Wastage Reduction

At Singapore EXPO, we embrace a farm-to-table approach, sourcing fresh ingredients from our onsite herb gardens and working with local farms that practice sustainable agriculture. By partnering with local suppliers in F&B, plant-based alternatives, and eco-friendly event packaging and cutlery, we reduce our reliance on long-haul transportation and lower our environmental footprint.

Food waste reduction is a key priority. Our high-efficiency food digester processes 365 tonnes of food waste annually, converting it into greywater safe for public sewage. We also assist event organizers in tracking and minimizing waste by providing post-event waste reports.

To further cut down waste, we implement recycling programs and zero-waste initiatives. Water dispensers placed in common areas promote the use of reusable bottles, reducing single-use plastics. Additionally, we have transitioned to digital screens for advertising and marketing, minimizing paper consumption while enhancing engagement.

By integrating these efforts across our operations, Singapore EXPO continues to drive meaningful change towards a more responsible and resource-efficient MICE industry.

Our commitment to energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste reduction at Singapore EXPO has earned us multiple international accreditations for green building and sustainability excellence. Alongside optimizing our building operations, we invest in workforce development, equipping employees with expertise in standards measurement, reporting, and compliance through ongoing training and education. These efforts have led to prestigious recognitions, including:
